generation consoles? PS4, Xbox 720, Wii HD?

I am interested in buying the new PS3 Slim, but I have a question. I do not want to go out and buy a new console if there will be new generation consoles released soon. Obviously Nothing is official, but nobody has heard rumors about when this might come out? 2010? 2011? 2012? Later than that? Should I buy the PS3 Slim? Thank you.

The average lifespan of consoles is 10 years old, which is what Sony is the PS3. The system is still in the "baby" steps and has a long way to go. Get the PS3, I do not think a system out until the year 2016
