Of all the things that the 1970 product, there are few who have made the size of a cultural impact of video games. Many people think that Pong was the home game that started it all, but in reality it was Magnavox and their "Odyssey" system in 1972. Although was very simple, it was always the first. Nolan Bushnell created Pong, with Al Alcorn, the founder of Atari. Next is the implementation of the microprocessor, which has adopted the entire sector. Following this, more complex systems could be developed. These systems produced groundbreaking and innovative graphical and auditory effects that had never been seen before. Consumers are eating. Industry was on fire. In 1981 alone, five billion dollars was spent on video game machines and another billion dollars was spent on the home video game systems. VCS/2600 Atari system remained the dominant player in 1982, when the gaming market has experienced a crash.

What are some great games? How about Pac Man? Pac Man, the yellow blob that ate dots and avoid ghosts squid-like, caused a sensation in the world and probably the greatest game of all time.

Space Invaders was another very popular game. In fact, it really marked a turning point for arcade games, them out of bars and family-friendly places such as shops and restaurants. The premise of Space Invaders was to stop an invasion extraterrestrial. This simple formula has become the arcade game the most successful of all time.

Then there was Super Mario, who was also large. It was an Italian anti-hero who was deliberately designed as a character everyone can identify. Shortly thereafter came Zelda, Metroid, and other classics.

Rise and Fall of Atari

Atari was the hottest thing in the game world in the early 80 s. Today, they are a relic of a glorious past. So what happened? Atari made some bad decisions, and although it is a bit complicated, it is useful to understand the situation. At that time in the world of computers, magnetic media have been implemented in data storage used in arcade machines. These materials allowed for better memory capacity than ROM cartridges.

In 1982, Atari had the opportunity include a disk drive in their systems. The price difference was nominal, and memory capacity have been significant. Atari however, believes that magnetic media was too "fragile" for the consumer to adequately treat. Atari "concern" for customer turned against them. In previous years, there had been a very fine line that separates the quality of the arcade-quality game home. Emergence the new

In 1984, everything changed. The reason? Two innovations: The reduction in the cost of dynamic RAM (DRAM) chips which allowed more memory, and production of higher power 8-bit processors, which lowered the price of chips before. Sega, a new player in the game systems at home, entered the console market with their Master System 2. The Sega Master System did not sell very well, but its success would be limited.

The other player key was Nintendo of Japan. The genius of Nintendo was the marketing of their prowess, as we have invested millions in advertising. These ads hit consumers at the perfect time, as evidenced by their sales. In fact, Nintendo could not manufacture enough systems to meet demand. After all was said and done, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) would become the best selling system in history. They should also become the most famous, because they were involved in intimidation of retailers, competing companies and other suppliers and partners.

During next five years Sega and Nintendo would battle for dominance, round trip. The consumer certainly benefited from this rivalry.

Today, it's between PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. Xbox decided to merge the past and present, where Xbox Live Arcade is a console who has a "download-like" feature where you can buy games via the console. One thing in the video game industry will always remain: the classic games yesterday were great games, helped define an era, and will always be fun.
